The Eternal Space
The third eye is what allows us to navigate interplanetary, interstellar, possibly even interdimensional, space. By shutting down most of our external senses and conscious functions - those that are perhaps needed in everyday activity but unnecessary in the processes of the third eye - the immediate three- or four-dimensional space surrounding one's consciousness can be mapped and, with training, momentarily catalogued into short-term memory.
Computers have mostly replaced this traditional navigation technique - that requires extensive training - but it's still applied in small scale. The methods can be boosted with traditional shamanistic aid and, more practically in space navigation, psychedelics.
