Coming from a military based family, most of the family was disappointed when Dristal took interest in studying and gathering rocks and minerals rather than improving his ability at throwing them at enemies. Figuring there was money to be made in minierals he convinced his family to send him to a school focused on mining and ore processing by convicing them he could find better minerals to make stronger metals to build better ships from. Unable to argue against that logic, they enrolled him in the local university. After graduating, he bought the cheapest rock hauler and mining lasers he could find and set out in search of "Fortune and Glory"
