Born and raised on the pleasure hub of Caille, Nelson learned early that diplomacy could often be substituted with charm and an expensive bottle of Spiced Wine. After a series of creative misunderstandings involving borrowed drones and misappropriated blueprints, he decided the vast reaches of space offered the perfect opportunity for reinvention. Nelson has an uncanny knack for turning dangerous encounters into opportunities for trade...or free drinks. He insists his ships are the fastest in the sector, though their speed is mostly for fleeing debt collectors and bounty hunters. He's a hopeless romantic but often confuses faulty augmentations with love signals, leading to a trail of interstellar heartache. Known for his dramatic "gravity-defying sex flip" in zero-g environments, Nelson often blames solar flares when things inevitably go wrong. He’s also convinced that his drones have developed distinct personalities and regularly hosts therapy sessions for them. Nelson's early life was steeped in the vibrant culture and high-tech luxury of Gallente Prime, where his parents ran a modest “art” studio specializing in Holoreels of adult industry stars. Despite their hopes for Nelson to join the creative world, he displayed more interest in repurposing the studio's equipment to modify drones for street races, a hobby that earned him notoriety among local thrill-seekers and exasperated law enforcement. As a teenager, Nelson developed a fascination with the experimental transhumanist philosophies woven into Gallente culture. He sought out rogue academics and underground forums discussing bioaugmentation, dreaming of one day becoming a "walking neural interface." His ventures into forbidden tech led him to hack into a Federation database, purely as a philosophical experiment, which resulted in a very public trial, a hefty fine, and the nickname "Jump Drive" after the court revealed he'd attempted to simulate warp functionality in his own nervous system. Naturally, Nelson maintained that the simulation was "flawless”. After his run-ins with the authorities, Nelson joined the Federation Navy, where he believed his knack for improvisation and "creative problem-solving" would flourish. During his initiation flight on his beloved ship Hippolyte, Nelson narrowly avoided disaster by mistakenly engaging the drone repair module instead of the shield booster, claiming he'd just "wanted to test the drone's loyalty".
