The notion of "free will" just gets tedious after a while. No fun for anybody in that old chestnut.
I mean, think about it. Let's consider what fundamental laws of the universe we have so far--they seem to be working well, after all! You could even add in some of the ones people argue about at the moment, or the old ones that got disproven, if you fancied some extra credit.
Divide them with a big, thick line into two groups: "deterministic" and "non-deterministic".
The former dispenses with free will before it leaves the starting gate. Know one configuration of a system, and all others follow.
The latter has no time for these ideas of self and will and identity. The random component is just that: random. The determinism gets smeared out, but you don't have any way to rig the game and fiddle with this random component.
I suggest we all just move on and forget about that silly little artefact of ancient philosophy. It works well enough for a certain Nation, after all!
